NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy)

NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake. NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national standards and over time.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It doesn’t replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress.

NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

NAPLAN testing will commence Wednesday 15 March to Monday 20 March. Catch up testing will take place from Thursday to Monday 27 March.

Student Voice Positive Choice

The Student Voice Positive Choice Leaders recently attended a student summit at Palmerston College. The day focussed on developing their leadership skill, particularly that of communication. The leaders came away from the day with a clear plan for improving student voice and engagement at Zuccoli Primary School. We can't wait to see what they do!

Northern Territory Learning Commission

16 Learning Commissioners had the opportunity to attend a conference to better understand the role student voice has in improving learning outcomes at schools across the Northern Territory. With students from the Palmerston and rural areas, Zuccoli students shared their individual strengths and school goals. Our students also unpacked school data and began developing our goals for 2023.
